Midjourney Images

In this article, we will explore the art of crafting stunning featured images and enhancing all types of blog graphics with the help of a powerful tool: Midjourney. Additionally, you’ll discover how I’m utilizing this for the Rough Pixels blog. It’s not just featured images, either, you can generate images or graphics within your post content.

The Significance of Blog Featured Images

In the competitive world of online content, first impressions matter more than ever. Blog-featured images play a pivotal role in grabbing your reader’s attention and enticing them to explore your articles further. These images are not mere decorations but powerful tools that can make or break the success of your blog. Here’s why they are so significant:

  • Capturing Attention: When a reader lands on your blog, the featured image is often the first thing they see. An eye-catching Midjourney image can stop them in their tracks and encourage them to read your article.
  • Conveying Information: Featured Midjourney images can set the tone for your blog post, giving readers a glimpse of what to expect. They convey the essence of your content and help users decide if it’s relevant to their interests. You will, of course, want to make sure your images are relevant to your post content.
  • Increasing Engagement: Blog posts with well-chosen featured Midjourney images tend to receive higher click-through rates and shares on social media. They make your content more shareable and encourage readers to interact with it.
  • Branding Enhancement: Consistent and proper use of featured Midjourney images that align with your brand’s visual identity helps reinforce your brand image and make your blog instantly recognizable. However, in rare instances, you can break this pseudo rule with different types of graphics.
  • SEO Benefits: Optimized featured Midjourney images can improve your blog’s search engine rankings, increasing the chances of organic traffic from image searches.

Before we go further, let’s explore a brief introduction to Midjourney and what it brings to the table for bloggers and content creators.

Introduction to Midjourney

Now that I’ve highlighted the significance of captivating blog-featured images, it’s time to introduce you to the versatile tool that can help you achieve stunning results: Midjourney.

What is Midjourney?

Midjourney is a comprehensive A.I. image generation platform designed to meet the needs of bloggers, content creators, digital marketers, and yes, even artists. It’s more than just an image tool; it’s a robust solution that allows you to take full control of your blog’s visual content.

In a nutshell, Midjourney is an AI-based image-generation tool that uses a text-to-image model. It can read your text prompt and create an image based on it. For example, the featured image for this article was generated with this text prompt:

Portrait of a human family from the 1970’s, retro futuristic cloths, absurd alien helmet, surreal. –ar 16:9

Why Choose Midjourney?

Midjourney stands out as a preferred choice for bloggers and content creators due to its user-friendly approach, versatility, and effectiveness. It streamlines the process of optimizing and enhancing blog images, ensuring your content not only looks great but also performs exceptionally well.

Visualizing Midjourney’s Creative Potential

Seeing is believing, and I want to provide you with a glimpse of the creative potential that Midjourney unlocks. Below are four examples of images generated using Midjourney, demonstrating the tool’s ability to bring your creative visions to life:

In the world of e-commerce, product presentation is everything. With Midjourney, you can craft stunning visuals that showcase your products in the best light. From the crisp details of the headphones to the immersive lighting and background, Midjourney allows you to convey the quality and appeal of your products effectively.

These examples illustrate the versatility of Midjourney in generating images for various purposes, from e-commerce to travel blogging. However, the types of images that you can create are virtually infinite.

Getting Started with Midjourney

Now that you’re acquainted with the powerful capabilities of Midjourney, it’s time to take the first step toward enhancing your blog’s visual content. However, I won’t take you through the formalities of signing up because that in itself will take a full article. What I will do is to show how to begin making images, using the featured image generation that I did for this article.

Before you begin using Midjourney, please note that you will need a Discord (free) account. Discord is the platform through which you interact with Midjourney and insert prompts for image generation. If you don’t have a Discord account, you can easily create one on the Discord website. Once you have your Discord account ready, you can begin generating images from your prompts. Also, it’s strongly recommended that if you plan to use Midjourney for commercial purposes, you should sign up for a paid membership

Step 1: Start An Initial Prompt

This is the initial prompt that I wrote out:

Portrait of a human family from the 1970’s, retro futuristic cloths, absurd alien helmet, surreal. –ar 16:9

It generated a group of four images, one of which I used for this article’s featured image. Can you find the one I used?

Once it generated this group of 4 samples, I decided to use Midjourney to give a variation of the second image:

Using Midjourney's variation tool to create 4 new versions of the second image.

It gave me a new set of 4 new images based on the second thumbnail:

The variation set of 4 new images.

I decided to go back to the initially generated set of images and clicked on the image set to open it into a browser window/tab. I saved the image and cropped out the one I wanted—the download is one PNG file with all 4 images.

Integrating Midjourney with Your Blogging Workflow

Now, it’s time to integrate these images into your blogging workflow. Whether you’re using popular content management systems like WordPress or Blogger or have a custom-built website, here’s how you can make Midjourney an essential part of your content creation process:

1. Uploading Images to Your Blog Platform

  • Once you’ve generated and refined your images in Midjourney, download the final version of your image to your computer.
  • Log in to your blogging platform (e.g., WordPress).
  • Navigate to the blog post (or page) where you want to insert the image.
  • Use the platform’s image uploading feature to upload your featured image from your computer.
  • Follow any additional platform-specific steps to insert the image into your blog post.

2. Image SEO Optimization

  • Before publishing your blog post, optimize the image for search engines by adding descriptive “alt” text and choosing a relevant file name.
  • Use the alt text field to provide a concise, keyword-rich description of the image.
  • Ensure the file name is descriptive and includes relevant keywords, separated by hyphens.

3. Consistent Branding

  • If you’ve created branded images using Midjourney, ensure they align with your blog’s visual identity.
  • Maintain consistency in colour schemes, fonts, and design elements to reinforce your brand image.

4. Image Placement

  • Consider the placement of your Midjourney images within your blog post for maximum impact.
  • Featured images often appear at the top of your post, while inline images should complement your content.

5. Mobile Optimization

  • Test how your Midjourney-generated images appear on mobile devices.
  • Ensure they are responsive and maintain their quality and appeal on smaller screens.

6. Image Credits

  • If you’ve used stock photos or resources within Midjourney, provide proper image credits where necessary.
  • Acknowledge the sources of any images used to adhere to copyright and licensing rules.

7. Regular Maintenance

  • Periodically review and update your blog images to ensure they remain relevant and align with your content strategy.

8. Monitor Performance

  • Keep an eye on the performance of your blog images. Analyze metrics like image load times, user engagement, and click-through rates.
  • Use this data to refine your image creation and optimization strategies.

By integrating Midjourney images into your blogging workflow, you can consistently create, optimize, and leverage visually appealing images that enhance your content’s impact. Whether you’re a solo blogger or part of a content team, this integration ensures that your blog remains visually engaging and aligned with your brand identity.

Unlocking Commercial Potential with a Paid Membership

When it comes to commercial use of images, it’s essential to take copyright and licensing considerations seriously. Midjourney strongly advises users engaged in commercial endeavours to opt for a paid membership. This not only ensures access to premium features and enhanced capabilities but also provides peace of mind regarding image copyrights and usage rights.

By investing in a paid membership, you gain access to a broader range of image resources and capabilities, often including access to a licensed library of stock photos and design elements. This ensures that the images you generate and utilize for your commercial content are not only visually striking but also legally sound.

With Midjourney and a paid membership, you’re equipped to navigate the complex landscape of image copyrights and usage rights, ensuring that your content not only shines but also complies with legal standards.

NOTE: I’m not a lawyer by any means, but if you want additional information, you might want to consult one.
