What I will do is to show how to begin making images, using the featured image generation that I did for this article.

Before you begin using Midjourney, please note that you will need a Discord (free) account. Discord is the platform through which you interact with Midjourney and insert prompts for image generation. If you don’t have a Discord account, you can easily create one on the Discord website. Once you have your Discord account ready, you can begin generating images from your prompts. Also, it’s strongly recommended that if you plan to use Midjourney for commercial purposes, you should sign up for a paid membership

Step 1: Start An Initial Prompt

This is the initial prompt that I wrote out:

It generated a group of four images, one of which I used for this article’s featured image. Can you find the one I used?

Once it generated this group of 4 samples, I decided to use Midjourney to give a variation of the second image:

It gave me a new set of 4 new images based on the second thumbnail:

I decided to go back to the initially generated set of images and clicked on the image set to open it into a browser window/tab. I saved the image and cropped out the one I wanted—the download is one PNG file with all 4 images.
